In summer 2006 we made a day trip upstream the Rhine from Dusseldorf to Koenigswinter. The weather was sunny and hot. It took us one hour by car to get there. Due to early daytime we were among the very first tourists on that day. No crowds could be seen yet.
The famous cog railway took us to the top of the Drachenfels. As hardly any tourist was on location we had the chance to visit everything without queuing.

Before we demounted (by feet) we could enjoy the wide view from top of Drachenfels.

| Of course we lingered through Koenigswinter for a while and had a big ice cream (as lunch). | ![]() |
