Again we spent a weekend at the river Moselle to fill our wine reservoire. We stayed in Ernst at the vineyard of our choice - pension and vineyard Jobelius. Our wine stock closed in on zero, minimum stock was left far, far behind already ;-)
Thus we bridled our horses .. uuh .. refueled our car and made for the app. 100 miles to Ernst / Moselle, quite near to Cochem, to have a nice weekend ...
The wine tasting was GREAT! Not only did we not know when or how we returned to our room that night. We even did not remember which wine or which quantities we had ordered, but according to the smile of Mr. Jobelius himself we must have ordered much. Yes, exactly, the rear trunk of our car was full to the extent when we headed for home.
Cochem / Moselle |
| Of course we did not return without a stop in Cochem where we spent a few hours. Cochem is a tourist stronghold, and you can get all sorts of useless and expensive souvenirs besides dispensable hotchpotch which is not worth the money. One advantage however is provided by such a touristy heartland: you have a big choice of ice cream parlours and cafés where you may rest your legs for a small while. |

We visited the old castle - a well-worth seeing medieval bulwark which seems to be dark and weird even from the valley.

Within the castle's countermure is a falconry with some majestic eagles and falcons. We did not see them fly unfortunately.

The broad-crested weir could keep away comptroller for sure. |

A perfect medieval illusion - but without knights. Ah no, even knights were present...

We had a nice weekend at the Moselle. Maybe recreation was not as big as during our last tour because the weather was not so good this time. Additionally the wine tasting was very hard. Next time we should keep our hands off the different varieties of brandys maybe. But let's be realistic - we will never succeed. Our noses are far too red already if you know what I mean...
